FOSTER DOGS · CHARLOTTE, NC

Every tail is worth a second chance.

Tailsworth is a small corner of the internet for dogs between chapters—strays and shelter pups living in a foster home while they wait for their people. Come meet them. No commitment, no pressure, just good dogs.

NOW FOSTERING

Looking for their people.

Each dog here lives in a real home, so their foster can tell you how they actually are on the couch, in the car and at 6 a.m.

NOT READY TO ADOPT? PERFECT.

Four ways to help a dog home.

Most dogs don’t get adopted by the first person who sees them—they get adopted by a friend of a friend who saw a share.

01

Share

Send a dog’s page to one person who has a little room in their life. It costs nothing and it works.

03

Ask questions

Curious but not sure? Ask anything—energy level, kids, cats, apartments. Asking is not signing up.

Say hello
04

Adopt

And if one of them steals your heart, the foster will walk you through every step with the shelter.

ADOPTING 101

The first three months, honestly.

Rescue folks use the “3-3-3” rule of thumb. Every dog is different, but it’s a good way to set expectations—for you and for them.

  1. 3 daysto decompress. New smells, new people, new rules. Expect a little hiding, sleeping, or not eating much. Keep it quiet and boring.
  2. 3 weeksto learn the routine. They figure out when walks happen and where dinner lives. Their real personality starts showing up.
  3. 3 monthsto feel at home. Trust is built. This is when most people say, “I can’t imagine life without them.”
